MAXWELL JELE MEETS THE PRESIDENT OF NAMIBIA
The Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA), Maxwell Jele, had the distinct honor of meeting the newly inaugurated President of the Republic of Namibia, Her Excellency, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. This important meeting took place on the margins of the 5th African Athletes Forum held in Windhoek, Namibia, on April 5th and 6th, 2025.
The Forum serves as a vital platform for athletes, sports officials, and stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting athletics across the African continent. Mr. Jele was part of a distinguished delegation accompanying the new IOC President-Elect, Kirsty Coventry, to the State House. This delegation included influential figures in the sports community, such as the 1st Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), the Honorable Minister of Sports in Namibia, the Director of Sports, the President of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NOC), the Chairperson of the ANOCA Athletes Commission, and the President of the Kenya NOC, who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The presence of these prominent representatives underscores the collaborative spirit of African nations in promoting sports development and fostering partnerships within the Olympic movement. The meeting with President Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the commitment of the Namibian government to support athletes and enhance the overall sporting landscape in the country, especially as Namibia prepares for upcoming international competitions.
During the Athletes Forum, Mr. Jele represented ANOCA Zone VI, where he serves as Secretary General. His participation allowed him to share insights and experiences from Eswatini’s sporting initiatives and engage with other leaders and athletes from across the continent. The Forum provided a valuable opportunity for networking, exchanging ideas, and discussing strategies to address challenges faced by athletes, including issues related to funding, training facilities, and athlete welfare.
