ANOCA Zone VI Congratulates Alfred Foloko on IJF Executive Committee Appointment

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone VI proudly extends heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Alfred Foloko, President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia and President of the Judo Association of Zambia, on his election to the International Judo Federation (IJF) Executive Committee. His appointment as Development Director marks a historic milestone, as he attended his first IJF Congress which is underway in Budapest, Hungary.

Foloko, who also serves as Vice President of ANOCA, joins 16 esteemed colleagues on the IJF Executive Committee for the 2025–2029 term. Among them are fellow Africans Estony Pridgeon of South Africa and Mohamed Meridja of Algeria, reflecting the growing influence and representation of the continent in global judo governance. The Congress also saw the re-election of IJF President Marius Vizer, whose continued leadership promises a strong strategic direction for the sport in the coming years.

As ANOCA Zone VI, we believe Mr. Foloko’s appointment is not only a proud moment for Zambia but also a significant victory for Southern Africa. His new role as Development Director within the IJF opens up invaluable opportunities to accelerate the growth of judo and broader sports development across our region. His wealth of experience, leadership, and passion for grassroots empowerment will be instrumental in unlocking new pathways for athlete development, coaching education, and infrastructure enhancement.

The impact of his elevation to this global stage will be deeply felt across our member nations, where the sport of judo continues to gain momentum. We are confident that Mr. Foloko will be a strong advocate for Africa and a catalyst for inclusive development across all levels of the sport.

As ANOCA Zone VI, we stand behind Mr. Foloko and offer him our full support as he embarks on this important journey. His success is a shared victory for all of us, and we look forward to the positive transformations his leadership will bring to the judo community and the broader sporting landscape across our region.

Congratulations once again, President Foloko—your achievement inspires us all.
