Alfred Foloko Appointed Chairman of ANOCA’s Marketing Commission
Alfred Foloko, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) and the third Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), has been appointed as the Chairman of ANOCA’s Marketing Commission.
This announcement was made during the 64th Ordinary Session of the ANOCA Executive Committee, which took place on April 14–15, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria. The session was presided over by ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf and gathered prominent leaders to discuss strategic advancements in African sports.
Additionally, the incoming president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Kirsty Coventry, addressed the gathering, congratulating Mustapha and his executive committee for their proactive approach and promising enhanced collaboration with ANOCA. Foloko will be supported by Vice Chairman Ben Nunoo Mensah and His Royal Highness Nii Kojo Ashifi Papanyira I, the former President of the National Olympic Committee of Ghana.

Foloko’s appointment signifies his rising influence within the continental Olympic movement and is perceived as a significant enhancement of Zambia’s role in African sports governance. As the Chair of the Marketing Commission, he is anticipated to play a pivotal role in promoting ANOCA’s branding, sponsorship, and outreach initiatives across the continent.The meeting in Abuja also covered preparations for several major upcoming events, including:
- The inaugural African School Games in Algeria (August 2025)
- The African Youth Games in Angola (December 10–20, 2025)
- The 14th African Games in Cairo
- The Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal (2026)
Foloko’s new responsibilities place him at the forefront of ANOCA’s mission to enhance the profile of African sports on the global stage.
